I thought of that while riding my bicycle.

Allonby to Carlisle

Sunshine, little country lanes, lovely views. That about sums up my day.

That and lunch in a field.

The solway Coast is indeed beautiful but, is sadly lacking in tea rooms. Luckily I had a thermos of coffee and some sandwiches so I found a few nice picnic spots on route.

I'm now settled in to a well known budget hotel with my supermarket pasta and a small bottle of cider.  My day rounded off with an ID check, double take and a cry of 'eeh pet, you've aged well'.

Morning sunshine

Long time followers will have been missing my 'look, a road' shots...

And sign posts

Lazy lunch (in a field) (only slightly marred by a hidden thistle)

Traffic hold ups

First sighting of the wall

Secure bike parking? Of course!
