I thought of that while riding my bicycle.

Ravenglass to Allonby - Route 72

What started out as a cold and wet day turned out to be bright and sunny. We cycled out from the Roman Baths and under the railway line. After fording the ford we found the lanes and rolled along. Dad took a left to Gosforth and I carried on.

Ford forded

I took a break for coffee and sandwiches overlooking the coast. Although the seaside smell of chips and vinegar was tempting I didn't succum.

I followed the coastal path along the railway line. Many years ago I used to get that train up to Edinburgh. The sunset over the sea was always beautiful as were the views today.

Arriving at the hotel (previous patrons include Wordsworth and Wilkie Collins) I got a warm welcome.

Now down in the bar for tea I'm being serenaded by the 20 strong ukulele band.

Sand dunes are not suitable for cycling.

Important additions to the upgraded path
