I thought of that while riding my bicycle.

Carlisle to Once Brewed

A short and hilly day.

After a slow start and a stop at a stop at a knitting shop (priorities people!) I made my way out of Carlisle. A little navigation and I was soon crossing the M6 and heading up towards Brampton. I had a lazy lunch and then carried on.  Up hill.

I stopped to admire various views and bits of wall. At the top of a double arrow hill (which I rode some of) I found the particularly engaging Roman Army Museum, to be recommended.

By the time I'd had my fill of history it was getting late. I could have just carried on along the road to the hostel but, I stuck to the route lest I miss Haltwhistle.

As I'm a hardy cyclist and the main road wasn't that busy I took a slightly less circuitous route (it doubled back on itself to make use of an underpass) and crossed. Another breath-taking hill or two and I made it to the hostle.

I had an evening meal in an empty dining room and now am knitting (using previously purchased essential supplies) in front of the TV.

Why the hat?
