I chose the latter.
The journey was fairly simple (the only challenge being no lifts at Epernay but as, ever a kind bloke stopped to help). A change at Reimes then onto to the at Champagne. Lifts were provided at all other stations. They were small, but they were there.
At Strasbourg the campsite finding was easy and I was pitched and settled before tea. A trip into town along a cycle path for a quick explore and back and then home to cook.
Here, for once (maybe 'cause I've been on the train?) it has been glorious sunshine. The same can't be said for home. Texts all day about the house being on flood alert, the river in the back garden and swans swimming up the street. Hopefully full disaster will be averted.
