A bit early for a lazy day. But heatwaves will do that to you.
I decided to stay put today and walk into the town for a bit of shopping later on. That left me with a morning of knitting and a very sweaty stroll in the afternoon. I did question the wisdom of my plan when the thermometer hit 27c - we are still in Scotland you know.
Everyone in the town was miserable. Too hot. Eating ice creams in the vain hope of chilling out. In other places you can get out of the heat indoors but the pub was just as warm and their traditional Scottish vegetarian fare of macaroni cheese and chips (the last three meals I’ve had out have been Mac and chips. Only one had a salad) wasn’t the most welcome.
Back at site with food to last for a couple of days I’m back to planning. I work best with clear destinations in mind so I’m trying to decided where that destination is. I’m in an area that has camping permits - which are sold out not surprisingly - so I’m trying to work out where I can camp, how far I can get before I boil, how far I want to go. If I want to go so far, stop for a few hours then do more in the evening. Even if I want to stay in a hotel. Choices choices.
