Today I have cycled through farmland and forest. I have seen enough covered bridges to make Madison County green with envy and have passed three different scout groups. A buzzard joined me for a while and the rain had the good grace to send warning thunder before opening the skies.
The Donauradweg must be the best bike route I've been on. The signs are easy to follow (although I missed one, ended up on a different bike route went off my map and several k uphill. The good part being the downhill to get back to the right place.) and the way - apart from some rather painful moments - is fairly flat.
Not that it comes without its challenges. I'd like to see a food shop every now and then (glad I stopped at the only one I saw) and there isn't as many campsites as I'd hoped. Even these have their plus sides. Today was 91k (would have been shorter bit the site I planned was infested with scouts) but tomorrow will be a leisurely 55. All to do with finding those campsites you see.
