What of today? I would say today has been a touch on the warm windy side but nice enough. Again it has been a practical cycle to get me from A to B so that I can explore tomorrow.
I think by now anyone who has read this blog will be aware I don’t like heat. I find that I want to keep moving because when I stop I descend into a sweaty mess. I also find that I lack much of an appetite so all in all it’s usually the recipe for a fractious day on the bike. But not this year I told myself. The forecast says one hot day and that I can surely manage.
Queue cycling without stopping, getting too hungry and being a sweaty mess anyway. At least nowadays I’m a self aware sweaty mess so earlier on I’d stopped for easy to eat snacks and juice. I did make myself stop and did eat the snacks and did drink the juice and did feel better.
It was a pleasant tootle along that included an actual hill (where I saw by an elderly moped gang with matching denim jackets who cheered me along) and a short visit to a prison (google maps deciding that was the quickest route and me assuming the dead end sign meant for cars as is often the case - although not when there is a prison sitting at the dead end. Don’t worry, I did manage to process the word Kriminalforsorgen as something not very legal before I got too far) as well as some pretty gardens and some breezy descents.
At the campsite I have been throughly fascinated by the comings and goings of my only fellow campers. She’s changed outfits about six times and he’s wandered around in just his shorts. They’ve packed up, unpacked disappeared and returned for the past couple of hours. And now they’ve disappeared - her in the original outfit and him (thankfully) with added shirt.
Tomorrow I plan to explore Ribe (the oldest town in Denmark) and visit a museum or two. The weather should break so I’ll swap moaning about this heat to complaining about the rain.
