A quick post about bird watching and mountains.

I am writing this from 'Scotland's highest restaurant'. To get here I got the bus and then the mountain railway. I booked a guided walk as I brought train tickets as - for conservation reasons - the average tourist isn't allowed to wander from the restaurant up the hill.

The walk was breezy and quite cloudy but, as I was with a bird watching couple, I am reliably informed that I saw some snow bunting, some ptarmigan and some dotterel. The birds were very friendly and obliging but also very well camouflaged.  Although today's adventures have been great the photos won't blow anyone away.

Somewhere there is a dotterel. This was the reason the bird watchers had comE on the walk and indeed to the Cairngorms. Ironically we saw this pair about 10m from the end and within spotting distance of the cosy restaurant.
