I thought of that while riding my bicycle.

9th July 50km

A short, short day today. I navigated my way through that silly town. A different way again.  I made it to the costal path and then, sort of stayed on it. It was a lovely undulating ride amongst the sand dunes. I stopped for lunch on top of a hill and felt in no way smug watching the exhaustion of those cycling past.

There came a point, mid afternoon, when I had to choose. Stop here or push on through Rotterdam (The Netherlands are fairly packed. It's hard to get any rhythm going when you are always in urban sprawl). And there were no other sites marked. I didn't have the energy or the inclination to work it all out so, I'm afraid I stopped here.

I do have the next couple of days worked out (and sites spotted) and then hopefully on to Antwerp.

The Haag over the sand dunes.

I could smell these roses before I saw them. Suddenly I was surrounded by flowers as far as the eye could see.
