I thought of that while riding my bicycle.

18th July 74 km

A mixed day of sight seeing and cycling.

I started off by exploring Ypres and having breakfast. I went to the museum shop and then headed off to Tyne Cott (the largest commonwealth war cemetery). On the way I passed through the Ypres Salient memorial. So many names and so many graves.

I followed the roads south passing more memorials and cemeteries.

Eventually I passed through Flanders and into France. The only hint of the change being the street signs.

I arrived in Hazebrouke which turned out to be one of the few French towns without a campsite sign. But still, I'm here now. With sight seeing, a blustery, unfriendly wind and a careless drivers' near miss (I was on the pavement looking at a map, that's how careless- insert expletive as necessary) it has seemed like a long day.
