What a nice cycle. Beautiful views. Coffee and cake for lunch and pizza for tea.
I packed up slowly and cycled through passau. I bought a range of pretzels to eat on the way then crossed the bridge to the south and to Austria.
I cycled through the steep valley surrounded by trees and meandered my way around the Schlogen loop. I stopped for lunch but the meaty menu forced me to have cake instead. I still had pretzel options for the way ahead.
After looping the loop the valley opened into meadows and farmland and the paved path made the miles slip away.
All but the last few kilometres were idealic. Those last few miles were as the guide suggested heavy with motor traffic. Made all the worse by being Friday rush hour.
I looked into Linz but was weary and not quite in the mood for a festival of street theatre. Instead I crossed the bridge and arrived at yet another hectic campsite. I pitched in about the only space available and went for a very pricey shower.
As it started to rain as soon as I started to pitch my tent I have retreated to a near by cafe for tea.
An epic ride in the offing tomorrow. Dare I order a second wine?
