After getting extra strong pain killers and bandages I set a five miles cut off point. Frankly I knew at one mile that things weren't going to improve but you never know. Turns out you can't just cycle through the pain and so I headed back to Newcastle.
I got myself checked out at minor injuries just to confirm my diagnosis. They confirmed that continuing would be daft, it was a strain and it needed rest. I was gutted but what can you do?
Heading back into town I dumped my bike and luggage at the station headed for a large glass of wine. The best solution I felt!
I wandered around Newcastle, went to the gallery and had more drinks. Eventually I got the train back to Edinburgh and limped home.
