I thought of that while riding my bicycle.

Feuerthalen - Waldshut 74km

First day of tour 'proper ' and I started by packing up a very wet and muddy tent. Of course this means more faff, far too much haste and not enough speed. The result being me dripping wet and everything else randomly shoved in any available bag. I just wanted to be off.

By the time I reached Rhinefalls (third time) all was dry and life was good. I faithfully followed Eurovelo 6 signs along the banks although annoyingly I was on the south and should by now have been north. The north route cuts out a great big loop. The south route doesn't. The north route has the occasional hill. The south route doesn't.  It's perpetual hill.  Still, the pay off is lovely views and great descents.

I got rained on a lot.

I was aiming for 50, ease myself in gradually but, the sight at Zarzach wasn't signed well enough for my tastes. And I got caught up in jubilant wedding traffic. Not that this site was easy to spot. It's on a tiny meander amongst a load of roads and in a different country. The bridge across was wrapped in scaffolding and hidden among roadworks.

That said, it's very pretty and cycle-tastic.

Tomorrow I hope to be spending most of my time in Germany. I've remembered it's Sunday so am well stocked up and I've spent a bit of time sorting myself out.  Come rain or shine, can we guess which, it should be smoother.

Good start.

Steep climb rewarded by beautiful views

It rained a lot.

The sight is cycle-tastic.
