I had been looking forward to breakfast at the Newhaven Lodge. A quick look at Tripadvisor will tell you why. It turned out to be quite normal. I would have told them I was vegetarian last night but Mr. Clipboard didn't give me a chance. I was presented with a platter of cold meat, sliced cucumber and tomato. I sent it away due to its meatiness. Shortly it was replaced with two small slices of cheese and two solid tiny samosas. I chose not to eat the second hand boiled egg.
I packed up my bike and chatted to other cyclists (there everywhere all of a sudden aren't they?). We established that I was terribly brave (although further investigation found that what we really meant was I could change an inner tube) and that our warm host was an avid online gamer.
I cycled up some more hills. I got shouted at for not being on a none signed cycle path. I found my way to it eventually then it stopped. After that I took the path at the bottom of the cliff that delivered me right into Brighton. I had ages to check in and so spent my time eating (I'm doing a lot of that) and phoning my mum. All whilst being serenaded by a really loud slightly tuneless singer.
When I did check in (early, thank you Best Western) I did my usual hotel routine. After a bit of a rest I hit the town for a good old mooch.
True to British form the weather was dull and overcast but, I don't mind that. I have restocked supplies and am ready for tomorrow.
As soon as I decide where I'm off to.
